Good lip filler should look like your lips on a good day. Fuller, smoother and better defined, but still yours. At The Aesthetic Surgery in the Lanchester Valley, minutes from Durham city centre, every lip treatment starts with a proper look at your face as a whole, not just your lips.

Some people want more volume. Many simply want a clearer lip border, a more even shape, softer lip lines or a little hydration. We talk through what you would like, show you what is realistic for your lips and only recommend treatment if it will genuinely suit you.

What It Can Help With

Common reasons people choose lip filler

Subtle volume Lip border definition Evening out asymmetry Hydration and smoothness Softening lip lines Restoring volume lost with age Cupid's bow definition Topping up previous filler
Our Approach

Natural first, always

We use hyaluronic acid filler, a gel based on a substance your body already makes, which can be dissolved if ever needed. Product is placed in small amounts and built gradually, checking shape and balance from every angle as we go.

If you have had filler elsewhere, we assess what is already there first. If something needs correcting or dissolving before more is added, we will explain why and what your options are.

A proper conversation

Lip filler may suit adults who would like more definition, shape, hydration or volume. It is not available to anyone under 18 and is not carried out during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or while you have a cold sore or infection near the area. Some medical conditions and medications mean treatment needs to wait or is not suitable, which we check carefully at consultation.

If you get cold sores, let us know at booking so we can plan around them.

Risks & Safety

Informed decisions matter

Swelling, bruising, tenderness, small lumps and temporary unevenness are common after lip filler and usually settle within two weeks. Less common but serious complications include infection, nodules and vascular occlusion, where filler affects the blood supply to the skin. Visual disturbance and blindness are rare but recognised risks of facial filler.

We explain the warning signs and how to reach us urgently before you decide to go ahead. As Best Safety-Led Aesthetics Clinic 2026 in the North East, safety is built into every appointment.

Questions

Lip filler FAQ

No. The aim is lips that suit your face and still look like yours. We build gradually, and we will tell you honestly if more product would not improve the result.

Many people start with 0.5ml to 1ml, but it depends on your lips and the result you want. Lip filler is priced at £135 per ml and your total price is confirmed at consultation before anything is done.

Lips are sensitive, but most fillers contain local anaesthetic and we take time to keep you comfortable. Most people describe it as pressure and pinching rather than pain.

Lips usually swell for two to five days and can look uneven while they settle. The final result is clearer at around two weeks, which is when a review is most useful.

Usually around six to twelve months. Lips tend to break filler down faster than other areas because they move so much.

Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme if needed. This is one of the reasons we only use hyaluronic acid fillers for lips.
