Dermal Filler Durham Natural Results, Clinical Precision

Dermal filler is one of the most requested treatments at The Aesthetic Surgery | Durham and one of the most misunderstood. Done well, nobody should be able to tell you have had it. Done badly, everyone can.

At this clinic, filler is not about changing how you look. It is about restoring what time has taken, enhancing what you already have, and delivering results that feel genuinely like you.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable gels composed primarily of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid attracts and retains moisture, which gives skin its plumpness and structure. As we age, natural hyaluronic acid levels decline, leading to volume loss, sagging and the formation of lines and folds.

When injected precisely into targeted areas, dermal filler restores lost volume, redefines facial contours, softens lines and folds, and creates a more balanced, refreshed appearance. The results are immediate and, in the right hands, entirely natural looking.

At The Aesthetic Surgery | Durham, only premium, CE-marked, pharmacy-sourced filler products are used. Every treatment is delivered personally by Lee and underpinned by over 10 years of advanced clinical experience.

Dermal filler is not a one-size-fits-all treatment. The product, placement, depth and volume all vary depending on your anatomy, your concerns and your goals. This is why the consultation is not optional. It is where the real work begins.

Treatment areas

  • Lips Volume, definition and shape

Who is it suitable for?

Dermal filler works well for a wide range of clients and concerns. You may be a good candidate if:

  • You have noticed volume loss in your cheeks, lips or around the mouth

  • Lines and folds are becoming more prominent and are not responding to skincare

  • You want more definition and structure in your jawline, chin or lips

  • You are looking for a subtle, natural refresh rather than a dramatic change

  • You want results that look like the best version of you, not a different person

  • You are considering a non-surgical alternative to more invasive procedures

Filler is not suitable for everyone and not every concern is best addressed with filler. At The Aesthetic Surgery | Durham, if a different treatment would serve you better, that is exactly what we will recommend. Honest consultations are the foundation of everything we do here.

Frequently asked questions

How long does dermal filler last?

Results typically last between 9 and 18 months depending on the product used, the area treated, your metabolism and lifestyle. Lips tend to metabolise filler faster than cheeks or jawline. Maintenance treatments help sustain results over time.

Is it painful?

A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment to minimise discomfort. Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure. Many of our premium filler products also contain lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, within the formula itself.

Is there any downtime?

Most clients return to normal activities the same day. Some mild swelling, redness or bruising at injection sites is common, particularly with lip treatments, and typically resolves within a few days. Avoiding alcohol, blood thinning medications and strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment is advised.

Can filler be dissolved?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This is one of the key safety advantages of HA-based fillers. At The Aesthetic Surgery | Durham we always ensure a clear aftercare and complication management protocol is in place.

What products do you use?

We use only premium, CE-marked dermal filler products sourced exclusively through UK-regulated pharmacies. We work with leading manufacturers and will always discuss the product being used at your consultation.

Can I combine dermal filler with other treatments?

Yes and for many clients a combined treatment plan delivers the best results. Filler works particularly well alongside anti-wrinkle treatment, skin boosters and polynucleotides as part of a structured approach to facial rejuvenation.
